 I think I figured it out... So, I keep looking at this plate when I walk by my Bronco. And I always wonder what the hell it is. Today, while taking this pic I think I figured it out.  Is there a cable end that routes through this to keep the spare tire carrier from swinging out too far?

1972 Sport, 302, 3 speed with old school Duff floor shifter, T shift Dana 20 with JB Fab twin stick, 4.11 gears with Trac-loc, Lincoln hydroboost, Chevy disc conversion, WH gas lift gate shock kit, 33" Duratrac tires on slots and about 2.5" of lift, Stroppe installed: bumper braces, dual shocks on all four corners, GM power steering, trans cooler mount, auto shift column, rollbar.

1972 Sport uncut, 302, C4 with 1974 column , T shift Dana 20, 3.50 gears w/ limited slip, 1966 U13 Roadster kick panel, and factory power steering.

Re: I think I figured it out... yes you are correct I have the stock cable on my bronco.It runs from that plate on the frame to a plate on the stock spare tire carrier.

Re: I think I figured it out... I guess it took so long to figure out because I have yet to own a Bronco that still has a stock spare tire carrier installed. Some PO along the line welded the mounting holes on this Bronco closed.
