Post Motor mounts
I'm contemplating changing out my motor mounts while I've got easy access, but have never done it before. If they look anything like my leaf spring bushings they're shot. Any easy way to do this with the engine still in the rig? I'm planning to try lifting the engine using a block of wood on the oil pan after some reading. Also, anyone using the EXTREME motor mounts sold by the vendors (http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/Ex ... tor_Mounts)? I'm not 100% clear that they're $100 better.

Yes, just lift the engine, with the 302 you shouldn't have interference problems. I can't speak to the extreme motor mounts, unless you're referring to my monster cummins motor mounts, lol. I think Phil might be running the extreme mounts, he mentioned that they raise the motor a bit.

The extreme mounts raise the engine up about 1/2" higher than stockers. Also will isolate vibrations a bit less but in a early bronco won't matter much.

Post Re: Motor mounts
My truck came with them installed. I agree with Landshark, urethane reduces compliance and will lead to increased NVH. That being said, my truck is not intolerable with a built 351W and a hot cam.

PROs:
- The design traps the bolt, so even if the bushings completely fail, the engine will still be contained
- The urethane will probably hold up better than rubber when faced with high HP/Torque and ultra-low gearing.

CONs:
- Increased NVH
- With less compliance comes the greater risk of drivetrain damage. This could be long term fatique damage or static force damage because the mounts simply will not soak up shock loads. This could happen during high throttle hill climbs, heavy rock crawling or drag racing.

Post Re: Motor mounts
I just replaced mine on my 351W, never done it before.

I used my ATV jack under the bell housing (with a piece of wood to take the crunch) to lift the engine and loosened up the two top transmission bolts (I pulled my cover plate) , loosened the big center bolt on the engine mount. It lifted easily, then I removed the bolts that hold the mounts to the block. I noticed the bolts were grade 5 so I replaced them with grade 8. Then reverse order to replace.

I had to use a bottle jack to move the engine sideways to get the center bolts lined up and get it to go, but after it was all lined up I lowered the engine down all the way and I torqued them down.

The right side is easier as no steering stuff in the way and no oil filter blocking.

My motor mounts were the stock type, as I plan on replacing the current motor and then will upgrade mounts then.

When are you looking to install them? I'm happy to help and have wanted to see your rig anyway. It looks like Tom's may be the best deal at $100 if I go the non-stock route. Did you get these?: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Early-Ford- ... a1&vxp=mtr
