Post Hi from Grand Junction
Hi - new Bronco owner here, I'm in Grand Junction. Grew up in GJ, just moved back after 28 years.

We just bought a house in GJ and share a driveway with the neighbor. Sitting there in his part of the driveway was this ole cool 1969 orange and white Bronco. We get along pretty good, we both were on submarines and both own our own business. I always like the older Broncos, I feel like I got a good deal to finally justify acquiring one.

Details on the 1969 Bronco: 351W with Holly Pro-Jection, ARB Front Locker, front disk brakes, power steering, 3.5 suspension lift, NP435 transmission, I don't know what transfer case (single stick)fiberglass hood, spare tire carrier, full family roll cage, hard top and two soft tops, re-geared axle ratio's but not known, tons of spare parts I don't even know what they are, an old 351W and its parts, intake, carb, new NAPA 351W crate motor not installed. The doors are 66 I'm told with removable window frames. The body is ruff but that is ok, I don't have to worry about scratching it.

Bronco was last registered with the state in 2004 and the 35's tires had date codes from 1988. The front tire lasted 8 miles and then popped on the bridge, so I put new Goodyear Duratrack's 32 x 12:50's on it. I put in a new water pump and power steering pump as they both leaked.

I'm putting in a new clutch as I type this, as the Bronco has horrible clutch chatter from sitting so long (I thought I had a broken motor mount but it was ok), I plan to sell the Holly-ProJection and put a q-jet carb on it and then drive it. The fuel injection works fine but I'm really just want a carburetor and keep the vehicle simple and old school. I plan for this Bronco to be used for general driving, exploring, camping, trails like Fins N Things and Poison Spider Mesa in Moab, not a rock crawler.

I do fabrication and would like to build some drop-down tube doors someone mentioned in classicbroncos.com.

I'd like to meet a few of you Bronco folks to learn more about the vehicle and meet some people, and you are welcome to call for help if needed when on this side of the state or just say hi.

J.E.

Welcome to the club. Sounds like a nice truck. Got to love not worrying about the paint job! Post up some pics when you get a chance.

Not many of us on the Western Slope. If you get to Gunnison some time, shout at me so we can meet up. I'll do the same when I come to GJ. Planning on heading through on the way to Moab at the end of this month.

Chad

Chad, I do go to Gunnison and have some friends up there. I usually spend the 4th of July in Gunnison for the last 15 years for the balloon rally.

Your welcome to come on by on the way to Moab.

Great. I'll let you know as my schedule is set. There is a group from the front range heading though GJ on the way too.

I'll be here for the 4th. One of the biggest events in Gunnison each year. Look forward to meeting up.

Welcome! Sharing a driveway with a neighbor often stinks, but if he's a bronco guy, I can see that being a much easier relationship!

As for Carb vs EFI - since you plan to wheel it, I think you're much better off with EFI. I know it is more complicated, but if it's set up well will be more reliable than carb setup.

Check out the Moab Safari coming up real quick!
