Side view mirrors
How did Ford mount the side view mirrors to the doors ?
My drivers side was just screwed into the door itself.
The passenger side, one screw right into door and the other had something on it which fell into the door when the screw was removed.

Re: Side view mirrors
I seem to remember nuts on the back of mine originally , however when i cut holes for the passenger mirror on my 76 i used these little folded metal retainers that dig into the metal within the door then you tighten the screw down from the outside. you dont have to hold a wrench on the nut to get them tight. I am sorry I dont know what htey are called.. but they are similar to the fender bolt retainers just much smaller... maybe someone knows they are called? I am useless...
