Saw a Jeep this morning dropping my daughter off at school and he had it mounted to his Hood with off road lights mounted to it - crazy.

I've got a "Farm Jack". It's just a Hi Lift that isn't branded. Identical to the original in every way. I think mine's a 42" and it sits in my garage. I wouldn't think about mounting it to the hood for a couple of reasons. #1 the hood isn't made to have that weight up there. #2 if you are ever in a front end collision, guess what's coming through the windshield first. #3 it looks like you are a Jeep retard trying to get attention with all your cool add-ons. When I do carry it, it is in the cab strapped to the bottom & under my rear seat. That way if it comes loose it isn't going to flop around and clobber someone. When I get the inclination to rebuild my rear bumper with a lockout hub for the pivot, I will make a mount on there for it to bolt down to, but until then, it stays in the garage or under the seat.

I have 2 48" all cast Hi-Lift's. One I've carried in my truck (F 250) since 1978. The other I fabbed a mounting bracket to attach it outside the spare tire on my Wrangler. I'll probably buy a 60" one and trade it for the 48" jack in the truck and mount it on the rear of the Bronco. I had mounting brackets to mount the jack to the right rear bar on the cage but, changed my mind. I've used the old jack for a winch, a clamp, as well as a jack in the 33 years I've had it. Pretty versatile tools and I wouldn't go out without one.

I've got a couple of farm jacks ranging from 48 - 60 inch, one is actually a hi-lift. I've used them for all sorts of stuff and carry a few accessories that make them usable in different situations, the one in my Bronco is mounted to the diagonal bar on my roll bar, but I'd like to put it on my rear bumper once it gets built.

Over christmas I was visiting family in Arizona. I went for a motorcycle ride with my Brother in Law. We by the place where he stored all my father's "junk" after he passed away. I spotted 4 hi-lift jacks laying here and there, but I had no way to get one back home on the bike. They were the very old style with unpainted iron but they all still worked. I told him to get some grease on them before they rusted.
