Thinking of fabricating a ski rack for my EB
I have a vision, something you'd see in the '80's. A PVC apparatus wide enough for a fat pair of skis, that hold 'em vertically. Rear mounted. A simple "drop in" design. Take your skis off, drop em in.
Just trying to think of how to mount something like that. I would want a bumper mount at the bottom and I don't know if it could somehow also be attached to the spare tire mount.
Any thoughts?

with the stiff springs in most Broncos, I think you'd need some sort of retention or you'll easily bounce them suckers out.

If I remember from the meeting, you didn't have a spare tire carrier. Are you going with the stock style tire carry or an aftermarket style? You could, depending on how big your spare tire is going to be and use the stock spare tire carrier, fasten the PVC tubes to the side of the spare tire carry just right of the tire. I would recommend Duct tape, as Mythbusters have proven, it's water..resistant. Basically the spare tire carrier would look like this:

I like it! I have always thought something like that would look neat, and well....it does! Easy to set up off the back tire carrier as well. Simple.....yet refined . I really like your "model" for your new creation ! Matt

You could always make a bracket for the stock bumper. Good luck with Mitch tonight...don't forget, working on EB's has a sharp learning curve...once you have done it, you'll know how to do it!

I've seen ski carriers that attatch to the spare tire. They have L Brackets that hang on the top of the tire and either bungee or clamp to the bottom of the tire.
Edit - Ok, the smilies are getting a bit out of hand. Might need some special characters in them.
