95 5.8 roller engine I think you guys were looking for(?). Kind of an old post but may be worth researching.

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
Mike, I know we talked about it today but refresh my memory on exactly what Phil is wanting with the 5.8 roller Block. Was it just the block, connecting rods and crank or was there more than that? As I said, I will give you the one I have if that is easiest but another option would be just acquiring another complete short block which I can probably gather in short order. If I'm up to date on what is needed, phil already has the intake. How about heads? Is he going aftermarket or do we need to be on the hunt for some GT40's? I'm going to guess an explorer front dress is also in the plans, do we have the parts for that yet?
i have gt40 heads being redone right now , and i have a explorer front dress being donated , talked to phil and he said he needs a short block with a truck rear sump oilpan , also crank , rods , and block .

Looks pretty similar to the 96 E250 pan.

Not a builder, looks to be ready to go. Only bad thing is I think it's a '94.

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
I went 5.8 roller scouting this weekend and found a viable candidate. I was running solo and short on time so I could not grab it but The plan is to go back for it this weekend. Kevin has volunteered to help me so we should be able to make quick work of it.
Mike, Shoot me a message with your number and we can work out getting it down to you once we have it. We will spring for the short block.

GoPro Hero 3 Black raffle
Howdy everyone
We already exceeded the original cash donation goal of 1,000 dollars which is great. All the contributions are really appreciated.
Having said that, I bet we can raise 3,000 dollars with the following raffle.
For every 50 dollar donation made through the fundly site we will enter you in a raffle for a USED GoPro Hero Black camera.
This will include donations which have already been made. PM me the details of your qualifying donation(s). We will have to go on the honor system and hope that no conflicts arise.
If you donated less than 50 and want to participate in the raffle then pm me with the details of your previous donation and make an additional donation to get you to the 50 dollar minimum.
We will select the winner on November 20th. Great way to get a nice GoPro at a cheap price while helping with the project.
The project is moving along nicely and you should see some progress pics soon enough.

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
I guess it’s about time to post a progress report. Rebuilt the tcase. I used the T rails because those were the only ones I had. I like the J rails better so I modified these to work just like the J rails inside. I also added the AA rear output I found on craigslist and the input stub for the AA AOD adapter. 20141216_145356.jpg 20141216_145430.jpg
Next was the power steering box. This is a 6 turn box but I want to convert it to a 4 turn. I tried to order parts to do that back in December but they weren’t available at that time. I need to get back on the phone and get them here. I also need to find a stock pitman arm. 20141216_145443.jpg

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
The GT40 heads came from Havana Machine. They milled and rebuilt them, drilled for 7/16” bolts and elongated the pushrod holes. I replaced the valve springs to match Comp Cams requirement for the cam I’ll run. Spring installed height was adjusted with shims. 20141221_111623.jpg
Intake manifold was next on the table. I picked it up a while ago from RoxCrusher. As it turns out it isn’t actually a Lightning or Cobra intake. It was one that was sold through FRPP and it had never even been bolted to an engine. I tapped the EGR riser for a plug since I’m not going to use EGR on this engine. Then I made a better PCV baffle for the bottom because the stock one didn’t look like it would do much to keep oil out. 20141223_132008.jpg 20141223_143311.jpg

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
Next up was the engine build. The short block was acquired and donated by casadejohnson and kbank6. Tear down showed no major issues other than severely worn bearings. The block then went to MPG Heads for machine work. It was bored .020” over and balanced, rods were rebuilt and fitted to the new stock type pistons. I cleaned the block and ran a tap through all the bolt holes. Then I painted it. Crankshaft, pistons and cam were installed. Ring gaps, bearing clearances and end plays were all checked. Cam timing was verified. Correct pushrod length was determined and piston to valve clearance was checked with clay. Everything went together nicely. 20150108_162622.jpg 20150116_151615.jpg 20150116_155904.jpg

Re: project viperwolfe is starting
I scored some valve covers off craigslist for $25. Then I clearance them out to fit some roller rockers. I had to remove the baffle and make a new one inside the filler tube. Then I polished them up a little to add some bling factor. 20150108_181015.jpg 20150122_192300.jpg 20150127_201656.jpg

I cut an extra groove in the cam position sensor adapter I got from JohnnyjetMech to accommodate the stock distributor clamp. Two set screws lock the adapter to the sensor body. 20150117_162702.jpg 20150120_181743.jpg
I lengthened the fuel rail hoses and rebuilt the 24 lb injectors. I even added a fuel pressure gauge. 20150119_192528.jpg
