Looking for Denver Shop or Tuning Help
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has a good Bronco shop in the Denver or Golden area? Or is anyone out there looking to provide some much needed help to get my Bronco back to purring? A buddy of mine rebuilt the engine about 4 years ago and things were running smoothly for quite a while. He has since moved away and I am without a shop that I trust. Since I don't have a garage, the time, or really the knowledge to tune it back up to how it was running back then, I thought I would ask the crew here to get recommendations.
I suspect that my immediate issues could be solved with some minor tuning or perhaps a new fuel pump, but I would defer to a more knowledgeable person to diagnose it. Currently the Bronco is in Golden and would have to be towed somewhere to be looked at.
Thanks! Jay

Are you getting fuel up to the carb? Have you messed with the points and timing yet or do you just want someone to take care of it for you?

Re: Looking for Denver Shop or Tuning Help
It is pretty strange in that it seems to be an intermittent issue. It runs completely fine for maybe 10 minutes, and then will stall out (once while I was going 60 mph). After I pull over, it will just barely start and with the gas pedal fully down will not rev up at all for about 5 minutes (sounds like I'm in a slow-putt competition). If I let off the gas pedal at all, it will die and I will hear a loud backfire out the exhaust. After about 5 minutes, it will rev up fine again and I can get another 10 miles down the road.
I have messed with the points and timing years ago, but don't really trust myself to do a good job. I would love some help or recommendations on where to go.

Re: Looking for Denver Shop or Tuning Help
Dusty Dog Garage is a Bronco guy and is part of this club. I am not sure what his expertise or experience is with carbs, but give him a call. http://dustydoggarage.com/Jason's Auto Repair in Arvada is another club member and shop owner that comes highly recommended-- again, not sure about carb expertise but probably worth a call. Address: 6439 Miller St, Arvada, CO 80004 Phone: (720) 787-4695

I would replace the fuel filter.

Re: Looking for Denver Shop or Tuning Help
Mine was doing the same thing a couple years ago and the timing was out about 20° so I will check the points and throw a timing light on it and I bet that fixes your problem

I've got a timing light. If you want to swing by I'd be happy to check it.
