Post subject:  Hi-Lift or Bottle Jack or Both?

I'm looking to equip my Bronco with a good jack. I'd like something small like an extended bottle jack but I know that most of these won't have the height to get the Bronco high enough to change a tire. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'd like a Hi-Lift but don't want to get one until I have a good bumper that carries both the spare tire and the jack.

Thanks.

Yep, that's what I was expecting. Guess that new bumper will come sooner than later:)

But a hi-lift is dangerous. They are called widow makers for a reason. They are great but you just have to be careful. I have a hi-lift and also carry the normal floor jack. Gonna get a nice bottle jack to carry so I can leave the floor jack at home. When I ripped the sidewall open on spring creek I had to use a combo of all 3 the get it in the air and change it. It all depends on your level of wheelin on what to carry. Pick up a decent bottle jack and a hi-lift and call it good.

Another good thing for jacking on the trail is a strap from axle to frame so you dont have to jack it up as far. I cant get a tire off the ground with a 4 foot hi-lift without the strap with a 5.5 WH lift.

I was planning on a Hi-Lift for around $80.00 for the all cast version. I havent heard about the ARB Exhaust jacks. How much are the ARB's?

I bought a cheap scissor jack to keep in the Bronco along with a bottle hydraulic. I tend to use the scissor more often than the hydraulic because it's lighter and has a much much greater range of lift than the hydraulic. That tiny little nub on the end of the hydraulic doesn't give me much comfort with the bronco high in the air.

I've seen scissors used for allot of strange things over the years because it can be collapsed so flat and inserted in between things like tires and crushed fenders.

I'm going to get a high lift for the trail, but I dont like using them much for actual flat tire changing.
