I have a March 2012 Alaska heli-snowboard trip scheduled & 50% deposit paid. It will be a trip of a lifetime. My choice of tags, this year is, in part, to get into great shape before the ski season begins. I got a bear tag so I'll have to go out and hike on the weekends, the whole month of September. I don't expect to be successful, just see more land & get into shape. Take my gun on some long walks. I had a couple elk pref points, but realized the unit I wanted to hunt in would take many, many more years to hunt there. So I lost them for a 1st season bull tag in 66. So my bear hunting will really be elk scouting for season 2 weeks after bear season ends. I'd like one good bull. I'll get a 2nd tag, a 43 cow after leftovers hopefully. Still waiting on deer, we haven't had much deer hunting since the winter of 07-08 wiped out 80%. The animals are healthier than before that winter and hopefully they will start issuing more tags. I've got 5 pref points & may pull a 2nd season buck tag. But probably not. Chad |

Rejected again......only 11 years trying to pull a Bull Muzzleload permit in 76, hell I'll be 76 by the time I pull it. Good luck to those who got your tag !! |

If you want to get anal about how the draw works, wade through the "Statistics" pages at the DOW. After looking at how many desirable tags even go to the 2nd draw, I decided to give up on the preference point thing. The "Hunt Recap" and "Draw Summary" pages are the most relevant. It took me a while to even figure them out. http://wildlife.state.co.us/Hunting/BigGame/Statistics/ Chad |
