I'm looking to set up a 4x4 only camping trip for my in-laws sometime in August or early September. They usually go car camping to a campground and I'd like to take them a little farther out into the wilderness. Can anyone suggest a good spot that is reasonably close (no farther than Idaho Springs area?) and will have some level of seclusion? Northern end is better, but this is flexible. The trail would need to be doable by a stock 4runner or explorer. Thanks!

Yeah, figured that would be an issue. I was thinking about going up and dibsing it early on whatever Friday we go.

Justin - just as others have said, if you want to be alone, you are going to have to go further....

I can give you a few if you want to spend 3 or more hours travel time to get there, but yes, the drive is worth it to me. On the front range... sorry, I got nothing that is even remotely secluded that you can drive (even 4x4) to.
