Post subject:  A twist to the Bronco "round up" idea

I've tried to organize two meet and greets in the past, one in Colorado, the other in North Carolina. Both enjoyed moderate success. The majority of people who wound up showing up were people who were active with Broncos. The disappointing part of these events has been the lack of turn out from non-active owners. So, I was kind of thinking of another approach.

What I would like to do from now until next spring is to keep adding to the list of known, inactive Bronco owners that we encounter during our daily activities. Once spring rolls around, we organize a bit of a rolling meet and greet, stopping in and saying "Hi" to our "inactive" friends. Looking at our disposition of inactive owners, we can plan out a route through our areas, taking advantage of highly visible routes to maximize exposure (read: show off to the public). We could also plan out short stops along the route as well. Drive-ins , 4x4 shops, etc.

I think waiting til spring would help us out because people are more social during that time, not really wanting to hang out on the front steps when it's 30 degrees out. Nor would they be likely to invite 15 strangers who just happen to own the same kind of truck in to their homes.

I already know about 5-10 inactive owners we could stop in and say hi to.

Thoughts?

I was really thinking of those people who have never been on the boards and never really met with a group/club. The kind of people who might hear about an event, but decide against because they've never done anything like that before, or simply don't really think they have the time to do something like that. I really think that if these types met some of the really good people (and that's a fact. I've been more impressed with the quality and character of the members of this site/club in just a few weeks than I have been in years of being on CB.com), they might take that extra effort or make some time to attend our events.

A Poker Run would be sooooo cool! I would love to cruise around, get cards, and meet at the Platte Grill for beers. What a great way to spend a nice summer Saturday - warm weather, sun, top down, stereo up, wife and kids, good food, poker, and Broncos. Love the idea - it is a great way to get the 'On Road Only' Broncos involved with the the trail runners. It may be one of the most attended events. Did I say I love the idea? If I forgot to mention it before, I love the idea. Spring and summer cannot come fast enough.

Just make sure thatmost of these rigs do not park on anyones driveway, ours does not leak currently but most of them I have seen leave a blood trail Ray Charles could follow.....

We do not wantto piss off any potential members. And even if they do not join up and participate - having them aware of the club, the web site and the shared knowedge to me is great. I think of it as paying it forward. You never know when you may need something from them.

Another thought. Perhaps the monthly breakfast meeting should be moved around town. That way some prospective owners in another area may run across them and join up.

Besides, for some of us, the current location is a long way north... Still up in the air if we will be attending this months meeting, I need to look at the schedule for tomorrow.

I've started up a Google map of Bronco sightings based on my weekend drive up to Woodland Park this weekend. I thought it would make a nice starting point to the "Bronco Poker Run" we could have next spring. I don't plan to use it to target Broncos for purchase (the wife would kill me if I started stacking them up in the backyard) but have no objections to anyone else doing so. Probably be a good idea, if anyone uses it, to add a note next to locations people have visited and spoken with owners. That way we can be sure we don't have 15 club members visiting someone in the same week and turning them off to the idea of joining up.

If anyone is interested, I can share the map via my gmail account. Simply reply and indicate your desire for access and I will email invites out.

Also should note that I can enable others who view the map to add points to it as well.

But, if people prefer, they can simply shoot me an address or cross streets and a zip code/city name.

One final note: I'm only adding in residential locations, not on the street/moving locations. Easier to find someone during a poker run if we know where they part vs. where they are spotted.

Although, now that I think about it, it might also be fun to post up street/moving locations as well. After a few months it would be fun to see where the overlap of Bronco sightings are located.
