Just wanted to get a little discussion on what you guys like to eat while on the trail (or camping), but I am looking for easy meals that are convenient to take with you. When it's cold, I love me some manifold burritos. When it's hot there is always sandwiches for lunch, but they aren't real tough to endure the ride. So looking for other suggestions. Wraps? Got to plan 4 lunches for Moab and three of them will be on the trail. Sammiches three days in a row isn't all that appealing either. Thanks! J.D. |

Make your sandwiches on bagels. Pick up several different types from the local bagel store. Grab some Tuna in the bag- not cans, deli meats, variety pack of cheese slices etc from the grocery store and some packets of relish, mayo and mustard from the deli - good to go. Toss in an orange and some crunchy granola bars - you are good to go. (one of my favorites while hunting - fills you up and no mess, no muss, no fuss). Bring plenty of water - and some of those small individual water flavoring "crystal lite" like different flavors. Not much room and you have a variety of different drinks. Wish I was going with you, have a blast! |

Ahh yeah Bagels. Good idea. I did that several years ago, but somehow ended up with ROCK hard bagels and my jaw was sore by the time I got halfway thru. |

Breakfast bagel sandwich in foil on the manifold. Take a few because lunch can be covered if needed. |

I like chili. Never tried the under hood oven. But I have no qualms against cracking a can and tearing it up cold. |

I'm sure you all know this, but just so I can sleep easy, I want to caution you that a sealed can, of anything, heated up too much becomes a bomb. Or, you could be severely burned when you first puncture the can to open it after it heats to 185* on the intake. There, I said it. Now I like breakfast burritos, and I like the idea of bringing 2x in case you need one more meal on a trail. |
