Need advice...hit and run.
My wife was stopped behind a motorcycle this morning that killed it right when the light turned green. So as she was waiting a lady came to a stop behind her but the truck behind that lady did not. The truck hit the lady behind her, which pushed her into my wife pretty hard. My wife was on the brakes hard enough she didn't hit the bike at least. The lady and my wife pulled over, the truck took off. My wife and the lady were in a hurry so they exchanged information and left without calling the cops. My wife said it left a small dent and scratches on her bumper but now the car has a vibration. I am guessing the frame is bent based on how these newer cars are made and I am assuming the rear wheels and or tires have damage as the other car went under hers a little. Either way it is going to need to be fixed. With no police report and no information from the at fault hit and runner what do we do? I think my wife needs to make a police report at least but I am guessing we will have to eat our deductible to get it fixed? My wife said the other lady was really nice and told her to call her insurance agent but it really wasn't the other lady's fault so her insurance company is probably going to say too bad so sad. What do we do?

Call your insurance company, they will probably require a police report but I think if you have uninsured motorist coverage it should be covered

I bet your agent could answer better than us but I would think.........
that the lady who hit your wife has damage and will be filing a claim with her insurance so I would file your claim with them too in order to avoid paying a deductible
if they give you any resistance then file with your insurance and have them chase down the other company

Your wife will need to file a police report. I'd do that ASAP, and also contact your insurance company. It will likely fall under your uninsured motorist coverage.

Re: Need advice...hit and run.
I concur, file a police report ASAP.. I'm not an expert by no means and I could be wrong.. but the lady who hit you is at fault (even if she didn't' cause the accident).. but not sure since your wife and the other lady left the scene of the accident with no police report its basically your wife's word against the women who rear ended you... I would look around online and see what others have to say but file a police report for sure.
did anyone get a description of the truck or anything? are there any cameras where the accident occurred?
again not a lawyer or anything just throwing out internet advice.. ;)

Re: Need advice...hit and run.
I had the same basic thing happen to me in front of the Montrose Airport a couple years ago. Some guy pulled a U-turn across all 4 lanes in 5pm rush hour traffic caused a wreck & hauled butt. The guy in front me got stopped, I got stopped, guy behind me wasn't so lucky. Was a wtf moment where he was watching the idiot doing the U-turn instead of me. What the insurance & the cops told me is the guy that rear ended me was at fault period. As far as the law is concerned the didn't have proper control of their vehicle. So my guess is the poor lady that rear ended your vehicle will have to pay, & she should have already filed a report for uninsured motorist.

Yeah I rearended somebody awhile ago and they bumped somebody, to another, to another. The first 2 in the accident allready had gotten bumped but since I caused everyone else to bump again I was liable for the whole thing. Kind of sucked.
