In need of a good 302 mechanic in the Springs.
Hi I'm new to the EB scene. I picked up a nice 76 awhile back but have been having some engine trouble and need some recommendations for a good mechanic in Colorado Springs. My 76 has the original 302 and runs a bit rough and keeps fouling the #3 plug. Additionally, sometimes she has a spark and then 5 minutes later she doesn't. I really want to get her running right but need to find a good mechanic to do some work on her to get her where she needs to be. I've replace the starter, starter solenoid, battery, distributor cap, I've got new plugs and wires, the coil is good but can't seem to figure it out. Anyhow, if anyone has a good mechanic that is reasonable I would appreciate it.
Thanks, Web

Wish I could help. I had similar troubles a few years back. Ii tried Firestone and a place in monument. Both were useless. I wound up replacing the motor after years of aggravation
Maybe Corey or one of the other more mechanically inclined individuals can recommend someone

Web, good to finally see you on the board! I met you over at the Fountain/Security/Whatever area that is Advanced Auto.
Can't say as I have a recommendation for a mechanic for you. Usually I just post up here what is going on and can pretty well figure it out from the responses.
I know there are several guys on the board here, and local to Colorado Springs, who know a thing or two about 302s and can save you some money. If you are interested in going that route, let us know and I am sure someone will just right in there to help.

Guys -- To be honest, I can't say enough about Steve Mills of Steve Mills Racing. (719) 578-9288. http://www.stevemillsracing.com/. He takes his time and is thorough. Though he is pretty busy supporting a couple of race cars, I gave him a box of accessory parts and the long block that I had pulled somewhat together and he gave me back a running engine. Again, a good, honest man. Mention that John and Susan with the Bronco 302 sent you. I am sure he will be glad to help.

Gents Steve Mills got the job done! Thanks a ton for the recommendation John. she is running good ended up being the ignition control module they fixed that and I had them replace the belts, plugs and re-time her and she is running great. They punctured the power steering pump but replaced it before they gave her back. I was able to run her to Denver and back without issue. Thanks again!

Happy to hear the recommendation worked out. And I'd sure 75DBE has a lot more confidence in that 302 he has yet to fire up, built by Steve's shop. Now, when I am I going to see that thing running around Carson some more?

So glad to hear that Steve Mills got the job done! Always nice whaen a recommendation works out. I do have a ton of confidence in his work. He just seems like a good hearted, honest man. I know I'll go back there when I get tired of this 302 and start piecing together my 408! :-)

they did good work and I am confident in what they did. I've been driving it almost everyday no issues. Now I just need to get some of the body work done and then paint done. Also looking at roll cages.
