I have a question for you guys who have turned in metal and junk cars.. how much do you get for a junk vehicle? in this case it would be a Late model bronco, no engine, transmission or transfer case, i would sell the rim, tires, suspension separately but junk the TTB and axle shafts and driveline.. I figure it should weigh about 3200 lbs or there abouts.. is it steel prices or do the places that accept vehicles give a set price on the whole lot based on what it is? Will they come drag the vehicle out of a parking space/garage with no suspension? thanks! |

Steel prices today when I called were .08 per pound. |

everytime i have helped a buddy do it you get steel scrap prices. so ~200$ a ton. If you do want it gone just say so and we can come drag it onto the trailer. |

There are paying $280 per vehicle down here, not per ton anymore, might want to verify prices before going. |

will do.. still on the fence about the big guy.. love the space of the fullsize.. gives me lots of options for hauling stuff around or packing up for the mountains, but would love to have a early bronco trail rig as well... |

I just need the Cummings. Have a d60 rear in it now and the d44 is pretty braced. Should be strong enough. It would be cool wouldn't it. Don't think I can run the e40d tyranny behind a Cummings would have to check fsb I giess |

There are cummins adapters out there for any trans you can think of, so I say do it, plus I need some company on the diesel side if the fence. |

Whoa. Been reading fsb and low side of the 6bt swap would be $6000 to $10000. Looks like it adds 450lbs to the front end. Wow Reading some more now |

I know from reading 4bt.swaps most guys are saying anything under 5k is very hard, there are outliers that have done it for 3500-4500, but I think they are waiting for killer deals and doing some serious junkyard time. 6bts are more plentiful so it could be done for cheap as long as the rest of the drivetrain parts don't put you in the poor house. The special adapter plates are what can add 1k on their own, then a hot rod trans for 2k+ and all the sudden you are already near 5k. To do it cheap you'd need to grab the entire drivetrain as a single piece that meets your needs from the junkyard; early mechanical pump 6bt with a 5spd and xfer case. |

For the fullsize i would either have to switch to a zf-5 or keep the E40d.. either way the adapter plates are close to $1.5K, plus exhaust.. any wiring... etc etc etc.. 4bt wouldn't be much cheaper.. so no savings there.. i coudl easily build a really nice 351w for $3k... my transmission is pretty much new.. so is the transfer case.. iam thinking about it, thinking about it.. Not sure I want to really put that much money into the fullsize, i might want to build a EB to replace to fullsize.. or strip the fullsize of the usable parts for an EB build.. then sell off the rest.. I will have to sleep on it ;) |

Ahh, but the novelty of a diesel powered bronco is worth some coin too! I need at least three broncos. One trail truck (done), one really nice stocker, and one resto-mod with a diesel! |

I can get you this truck for $4.5k. Complete truck, no real issues doesn't even leak oil. It has been a glass truck and the body shows it (oh boy is that an understatement). If you plan to use it for a plow truck: great. If you plan to use the drive train and junk the rest: even better. If you plan to take the wife to dinner and expect to have a good time after - you had best be married to the most red neck female out there. http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3546150838.html More info and more accurate photo too: http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/3493876962.html |
