Favorite Car movies
It seems that when I am surfing some channels, I occasionally run across some cool car movies. The trouble is it never fails that I find these shows when they are nearly over with not another on the schedule. So I got tired of that and fired up amazon and bought some new DVD's. But I wanted to hear what you guys thought were some cool car shows. So as not to tease you (eehhrrmm Cascade) I bought the following: Gumball Run Cannonball Run I & II Smokey & the Bandit I & II Bullitt Dust to Glory -actually lent this out and forgot to who and it never returned. Now copies are $35, so I found a cheap one and hope it works! I own: Gone in 60 Seconds - new one Italian Job - new one This one looks good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnIgYTF1UJAA lot of the 007 movies could raise some eyebrows. Here's Hor Rod magazines top 40 list: http://www.hotrod.com/thehistoryof/hdrp ... ewall.html

Re: Favorite Car movies
I'm a big fan of Days of Thunder. Another recent movie that I loved (the soundtrack is really cool too) is Drive with Ryan Gosling.
Also Speed and Dukes of Hazard.

I said get up there and hit the pace car.
Why would I do that ?
Well you've hit every other car on the damned track, might as well get that one too.

Favorite Car movies
Days of thunder is an all time favorite! Dust to glory is awesome! Drive was good! Hit and run was hilarious plus that Lincoln and the baja buggy were badarse! I'd like to see Rush, heard its really good, another favorite is Driven, which is another indy car movie with Stallone.
I used to watch days of thunder like once a week when I was a kid, lol
Jeff that's a great quote, I repeat this one all the time, not sure if its word for word, but.. It's close
"Guys I need to pit. Uh.. Not right now. Why not? Well.. were eating ice cream. EATING ICE CREAM???"

Favorite Car movies
One of my all time favorites, albeit not exclusively car related, is American Graffiti.
I just watched drive a few months ago and I was pretty happy with it.

Re: Favorite Car movies
The opposite of Herbie and Cars:
Christine - I love Jon Carpenter
The Highwaymen, same director as The Hitcher with Rutger Hower. A horror/thriller about a serial killer who uses his car to kill women and a guy tracking him down.
Death Race 2000 Maximum Overdrive
Not all favorites, but classic horror movies.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Ronin. Not a super well known flick but it made me fall in love with VW/Audi and man has some of the best chase scenes ever.

Re: Favorite Car movies
Not sure if this really counts as a car movie, per se I've just finished watching 1 which is a documentary style movie about the history of Formula 1 racing. One thing for sure, those early guys were brave as hell. Niki Lauda was an absolute warrior. http://www.formula1.com/teams_and_drive ... _fame/221/I didn't realize the recent release RUSH was based on the epic battle between Lauda and his good friend Hunt. Gonna have to go check it out I guess.
