Stuck nut
I'm finally getting some time to disassemble my FW Dana 44, but have run into a stuck nut holding one of the spindles on. I've soaked it 2-3x/day for a few days with PB blaster, tried an air impact and heated it with a propane torch. Any other ideas before I get out the cutting wheels?

Re: Stuck nut
You are talking a hex nut right? One of 6 or so? More heat right on that nut! But it looks like you've covered your bases. You could also just get a cheater bar on your breaker bar and if the bolt snaps, that will be cleaner than cutting it off.

Re: Stuck nut
I like that new wd40 it works good.. I would do a couple heat cool cycles and take the handle off a jack to use as a cheater bar

Re: Stuck nut
Throw more heat at it as well, something more than propane, don't you have acetylene?

Re: Stuck nut
Just split the nut and back it off.

Re: Stuck nut
Kirk, I do have acetylene, just didn't want to deal with hauling it out last night. I'll probably try that next. JD, that may be how I wind up doing that. Crazy, any ideas on the best way to split the nut? I'd Dremel it, but I don't want to risk nicking the spindle if I can help it. Jeff, I haven't cussed too much, maybe that'll be the key!

Blood, it will take blood. Then cussing.

Re: Stuck nut
Talk to Jeff's physician. I think he was finally able to get one of Jeff's nuts to drop.

Re: Stuck nut
Got it. Took some more soaking with PB Blaster and some creative application of brute force. Thanks for the tips!
