The proverbial third shoe dropped on me today. I've been chasing my electrical gremlin for years, but 2 weeks ago it took a big bite out of me..... First shoe: My driver tail light & passenger grill blinker have been working off & on for a few months now, but I haven't been able to trace that problem down. The other night, I was driving home and "POP" the dash lights go out. Now, every time I turn the headlights on, the fuse pops for the tail lights and dash lights. Those are ground shorts somewhere....I am just betting it's somewhere inside of the loom somewhere. Shoe #2: about 2 weeks ago, I hear this metal on metal popping when ever I go around corners or up driveways, etc. I hear that noise. I crawl around looking everywhere for what is making the noise and I find that both rear springs, the poly bushings are completely gone. And not just the ones in the springs, the shackle bushings are gone too, so that is just something that was lax on my part for not paying attention. Shoe #3: Dropping my boys off for the first day of school this morning, I go to get back in, step on the brake and it goes to the floor. I limp home, get out walk around and the front driver tire has brake fluid everywhere. I crawl under it to look, get fluid drips all over my new hat (that really pissed me off, more so than the brake problem) and I see that the stainless braided line has ruptured & blown out. Fluid everywhere under there, tire, rim, frame, fender well, springs....just pisses me off. But this is the second time that I've had a stainless line blow on me up front. The last time was the pass side. So now, I've got a full weekend ahead of me if the local shop has the bushings, I can trace my wiring problem and (hopefully) I have a spare brake line to fix the blown one with. |

That sucks, but all can be fixed. Don't forget to check the wire and switches for the turn signals in the column & headlight switch. The light problems you're describing sound like it's more than a ground problem. |

SHOE #3 is an inherant problem with using braided stainless steel lines as you cant tell the condition of the actual brake line. I just had this same problem (mine was between master and prop valve) so I will be replacing proactively, maybe every 5 years. Hang in there ! |

I've been debating about going back to rubber lines on the calipers. What is your thoughts? Are you going back with rubber or stainless? As for the wiring, I've also been debating about buying a new harness and just rewiring the damn thing, but I've got EFI that I didn't wire up and am not sure how that goes together. |

Sorry man! I am confident in saying we've all been there! But a little perseverance and you'll have it going again soon! |
