The chuck on my drill press randomly fell off after a number of years of service. The mating surfaces have gotten scratched up, so it's not re-seating. I polished up the shaft. Is there an easy way to clean up the inside of the chuck, or do I need to suck it up and buy a new one? |

Could try a sanding drum on a Dremel tool followed by a polishing wheel. Care would have to be used to not grind down taper. Mark. |

I think I have a brand new chuck still in the box if you end up needing a new one, let me know and I will dig out. |

HA! Same thing happened to mine about 2 years ago. Drilling something small, and "crap", just fell off. I also figured I had nothing to loose, either beat it into submission or buy a new one!... Like I said, 2 years later...BFH! |
