Any recommendations on brands to avoid? Dealers to go to? My budget is a little flexible but I need one in about a weeks time at the most. I can't trust my trailer for long distances without putting some decent work in to it and I will be towing a car to Phoenix on the 27th of this month. I have been wanting/needing a new trailer for some time now so I may as well just buy one now. I'd prefer new but will consider used if the condition and price are right. Thanks for your input! |

Calling JD!!! I believe he had a big tex trailer. Little more money but plenty stout to haul just about anything you want. |

I really like my H&H trailer - 20ft tilt bed 7000 lbs The frame is sized like a 10,000 lbs trailer, I added a winch mount to the front, the tilt bed is awesome for dragging dead vehicle projects home or moving equipment. The tongue adds 5-6ft which is nice, I can haul 24ft sticks of steel without overhanging the end of the trailer. |

I sold my Big Tex rather quickly and for what I was asking. I custom ordered one out of UT, which wouldn't meet your timeline, but there are some recent trailer threads going on over on CO4x4 that might be worth a look. (Tow Rig Section) It's so hard to compare trailers apple to apples as they are all built so differently, but I would go big. Having too much trailer is usually a good thing. I'd get at least a 10k and I recommend loading jacks to keep stress off the rear axle when loading rigs. |

Big Tex are nice, I used one for a lot of years. I am on PJ car hauler number 2. I only got rid of the 1st one to get a bigger one. I put lots of miles on all of these trailers and never had any issues. On the big tex I had problems opening the doors on my lowered mustang. My PJ's didn't have that problem. I also like the PJ fender style because they are removable and when I put wide trucks on I can just unbolt the fenders and drive on. For bumper pull trailers I have been fine with the 7000k, but like JD said over buy. vert.JPG For bigger weight I prefer pulling deckover gooseneck trailers, putting that weight over the axle makes a huge difference. I just looked at 2 different big tex trailers among others. Found the one I want. 18' with led lights, removable fenders, bulldog coupler, dual axle brakes (3500 lbs each), dove tail, etc. Looks like a solid trailer. Way nicer than the 16' big tex I went there to see. Way thicker metal, tongue channel wraps all the way back to the axles, dove tail among other things. I will own the 18' as soon as my banker (wife) approves it. |

I think ridged "drive on" fenders are options you may want to consider as well. My Bronc full width 44/60 with 17x9's, 37x12.5 barley shoehorned itself between akafrankcastle's trailer when I took it to paint. |

The trailer I'm looking to get has completely removable fenders so fitting wide loads is as easy as pulling some pins and yanking the fenders. The deck is already 7" wider than my current trailer so I'm not too worried about fitting things. |

I'm not trying to talk you out of a 7k trailer, but my bronco, loaded for the trail, was near the limit of my first Big Tex trailer. Weight of bronco, plus gear, fuel etc + trailer was just shy of 7,000lbs. I know time is of the essence for ya, but do consider looking for dual 5,200lb axles. And the bull-dog coupler is a must. |

Looks nice, now let's get some mud on those wheels and put a couple of scratches on it! |

Since you have 3500lb axles, can I recommend you take a couple blocks of wood with you to act as loading jacks? Lots of stress on that rear axle when loading and unloading as you're picking up the rear of the tow rig as well. Just trying to pass on my experience. |
