Front Axle U-Joints
Hey guys,
I've got a bad u-joint in my front axle that needs replacing. I figured I would do both since I was in there and I have the u-joints and I'm going to pull the axles tomorrow. I unfortunately don't have the facilities to press the old ones out and the new ones in. Can anyone recommend a shop that would do it for relatively cheap if I just bring them the already pulled axles and new u-joints? Thanks!

Re: Front Axle U-Joints
If it can wait till later this week, we can take care of it at my place.

I beat mine out with a hammer. Super easy. You can find videos on YouTube on how to do it. Hardest part was getting the clips out.

Using a hammer is fine, if you don't want to wait.

x3 on the hammer method. That's how I did it before I bought a press.

Re: Front Axle U-Joints
I used a hammer to get them out and then a bench vise for install. I would suggest doing them yourself- it's not too difficult.

Re: Front Axle U-Joints
They can stick, which then needs a press, but it's worth trying.

Re: Front Axle U-Joints
Yeah I've researched some videos on how to do it and I'm just really limited on work space. I don't even have a good solid place to hammer out the old ones, or a vice to put the new ones in. I'd love to do them myself if possible absolutely, but I'm basically doing all the work on my Bronco outside with a bucket of hand tools at the moment.
Justin, that would be great and I would really appreciate it. I'm not in any hurry to do it so whenever you have time is fine. Thanks!
