Alpine Tunnel/Williams Pass
There was major damage to the Palisades section of the road to Alpine Tunnel this winter. A large avalanche or rock slide caused the hand stacked section of road to collapse. Pretty amazing it stood for 135 years before this happened. The guy I bought the 72 E/S from works for the USFS and said it won't open this summer for sure. And Williams Pass is past the damaged section of road, so it won't open either. http://data.pitkin-news.com/HTMLFiles/T ... amage.html

Re: Alpine Tunnel/Williams Pass
Well that's a bummer but it is amazing its stood the test of time this far. Iam sure it will be repaired sooner or later it's a pretty cool area.
