And not one comment about the pre-runner front fenders....
I know this, every time he shows up at a breakfast, his rig gets more attention from outsiders than most, if not all the others combined. Must be the end of the world SHTF appeal. If he ever gets the sound proofing done, we will all want to ride along with him.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
Finally getting to my axle upgrade, seriously needed as I have broken enough axles and u-joints and also crushed enough pinion parts to know my 1/2 ton axles won't last beyond street driving.
Starting with the rear D60 since it'll be a little easier, cutting off the factory spring perches and moving RuffStuff replacements inboard, upgrades will be an ARB and torque tamer.

I think that's out of a late 90's E350 if I remember right.

Yep, 99+ E350, nice axle with factory disc brakes and cable actuated e-brake. This one is setup with LS and 410s, shame I'm dropping the ARB and 350s into it for my diesel.
Mocking up the new spring perches, might get it under BSD by the end of the weekend. I still need to decide if I'm leaving the flange on it, right now I'd like to keep it.

Black Smoke Donkey
Installed after a week wait to source the right U bolts, who knew the E350s used Superduty spec'd axles. I'll get the rear fenders opened up and mount the matching fiberglass. I'll be in fwd for a week until the driveshaft is modded.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
I have some concerns of that wrap trap making your truck ride rough. As your suspension compresses the axle moves backward slightly, but with that trap all tightened up, you are hindering that movement. Perhaps there is something there I am not seeing and knowing you, there is, but I've seen a lot of folks run similar designed ladder bars and complain of rough riding.

Re: Black Smoke Donkey
I have the same wrap trap - I haven’t noticed any ride issues as its not a solid piece technically, there is a bushing on one end that absorbs shock and vibration. Matter of fact it saved me in moab when i lost one of my centering pins on my rear leafs early on Poison Spider - i wheeled most of the day with just one pin and that wrap trap.
I am a fan especially with the torque my engine makes as I would have lost my driveshaft and probably leafs quite a while ago without it. Not to say there isn’t anything better - it seems to work for me :)
