Huston we have a problem
I was elk hunting earlier this week. We felt and heard a bang, thought I hit a rock with the rear diff. Found this broken rear shock the next day. I thought it had more bounce in the rear. But the 1/2 cab has a bounce. It was time time to replace the 20 year old shocks. It looks like the shock unscrewed it self. Tried to get it apart at camp but the nut was too rusted even using the jack it would not turn. Power tool and heat nothing. won with cutoff wheel. The 1/2 inch bolt was a grade 8, one on the front was also an grade 8. So shock mounting bolts grade 5 or grade 8?

Re: Huston we have a problem
Most factory automotive hardware is grade 5 and it's more than enough for a shock mount.

Re: Huston we have a problem
I'll bet with quality shocks, the bounce goes away! Might I suggest Bilstein?

Want Bilstens but can afford WH store brand. Bronco money went to new radiator 3 weeks ago.

Buy used 7100s and rebuild them. Or don't, used in that category is usually great.
