Input needed please!
I decided to fix up my ugly ass truck....so I took the easy way...replace all the bent body parts and paint it all. I found a guy on craigslist that sold me both front, power doors, rf fender, hood, instrument cluster, front bumper, lug nuts(for alloy wheels), rf headlight and a front valence for my truck. All in really good shape. He sold it to me for a fantastic price too....$150 for everything! He is a really good old guy. He was curious if I could find out what a diesel engine is worth that he is trying to sell.
It is a 1995 Ford 7.3 liter turbo diesel with 255k. It starts and runs great, good power, no major leaks, seems to be in good shape. I heard it run and it sounds good. He says it is hard to start when it is cold in the morning but fires up just fine the rest of the day. I imagine it needs glow plugs. It has a little blow by but it doesn't seem bad at all to me. SO what is it worth??? I don't want him to sell it too cheap as he is a good guy.

Re: Input needed please!
Wish I had a good answer for you. I'd say do a craigslist search across the front range and see what they are averaging. I've seen 7.3s ranging in price from sub-1000 to just under 2000.

Re: Input needed please!
I would imagine that a 1995 (1st year) 7.3L w/ 255K, with with the harness, turbo and all the peripherals would go for around $1,500 to $2,500 depending on condition.
It's quite possible that the cold start problem could be the glow plug relay too. In either case I have both the relay and a set of glow plugs on hand and are yours for no charge if you decide to purchase the engine.

Re: Input needed please!
Correction: 1995 is the 1st year with turbo.
