Opinion on Powder Coating
All,
I wanted to know your opinion on the powder coating finishes on the Duff long arms. I got the silver vein finish, but one is clearly just silver. I don't think they match at all. What would you do?

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
That sucks. I would contact them and s nd them pics. See if they will either ship you some new ones or discount the price. The thing that would suck though if you had to pay to ship the others back. From what I hear Duffs really take care of their custom rs so I think you would be okay.

Agree with Bobby. Just be thankful they aren’t from some other vendors that are notoriously difficult to deal with....

That would drive me insane. Call them and I’d bet a corona they’ll take care of it.

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
Called and sent them pictures. Here's their response:
Hi Jason. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We checked and found others that had a similar difference in pigment. We verified that there is no issue with strength or durability to the finish its just aesthetically different. We were also told it is not uncommon to see silver vein with a tight stitch do this especially on tubing. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.
Sincerely,
Tech support James Duff Inc.
I sent a response to the effect that it has nothing to do with the pigment, it has to do with one has vein and one doesn't. We'll see what they say. I don't want to do it, but I may have to get a little noisy on the national site.

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
On one hand I’m with the guys that say no biggie, you’ll never see them both at the same time and they’ll both look great no matter what!!!
BUT...
On the other hand were talkin ‘bout PRINCIPALITIES MAN!!!
If you paid extra for it and they didn’t deliver then I would demand your money back!
You’re talking about the national site, (CB.com) I would also go onto Facebook where they have a huge presence and a huge following of sheep...Me Included... I would bet that if you tag Michael Duff James Duff Susie Duff you would get lots and lots and lots of responses! And it would just be a matter of time before they made it right! I drink Bud Light by the way ;)

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
Yeah, I would ask to be refunded the "special paint" portion at the very least. It'd be one thing if they matched, but they clearly do not. And if you are not installing these on a show truck, then not many folks will ever know they were different.
Before you go national, I would make them aware of your expectations and what you think is fair. If there is no leeway, then you might need to escalate the issue.

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
I'd contact Doghows72 on the CB site, (he is a powder coater guy) just to see what he thinks of the pics and the explanation that Duffs' gave on why they are different.

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
If you used a credit card to purchase them and they are refusing to help you, you can reverse the charges. My friend had to do it with an online company. He ordered 1500 worth of body panels for his chevy. They were all dented and they refused to take them back. He reversed the charges and got all his money back. The company then sent him shipping labels and asked that he return everything. By that time he had thrown it all in the trash, so they were crap out of luck. Just an idea if they wont make it right.

Re: Opinion on Powder Coating
Just wanted everyone to know Michael with Duff's and I came to an agreement and this issue has been resolved to my satisfaction!
