O.K.,,,, I screwed up!
Last year I was at Penrose watching my boys doing that nasty Independence canyon. I flat towed my Bronco home behind the motorhome. Got home to Centennial and realized I had forgotten to unlock the front hubs! I grenaded the tranny (c4) but not sure about damage to the transfer case. Any ideas what damage may have been done to the Tcase? I plan on dissing case. Needs seals anyway. thx

Tcase is probably ok. The front output shaft turning slings oil around inside it.
How did it hurt the C4? Was it in neutral with the tcase in gear?

Yep, T-case is likely fine.

The c4 tranny was in neutral but took out all fwd gears. I still have reverse. This will be the fourth time that this tranny has broken so it's now a donor tranny! My neighbors are starting to to look at me funny! I have had broncos for a long time and was always under impression that you cannot flat tow w/ tcase in neutral. I've always dis'd the driveshaft. Let me know how it went after YOU try it!!

Re: O.K.,,,, I screwed up!
Guys,,,, I'm just getting the Bronco in the garage to replace the tranny with an EFI and built C4. . I was wondering if anyone has pulled the engine with the t-case and tranny hanging off the back. Sounds a little like that monkey "sitting" on a football! Send me a PM if you'd like to stop by. My garage is heated!
