302 lower intake to 351 adapter ideas
In my usual fashion, I've already jumped 10 steps ahead & read about 351W EFI. Seems that there are only 2 ways to fit an EFI 351W under our hoods. One, find a 351 GT40 lower intake & regular GT40 upper, seems difficult & expensive. Two, get a 351 truck lower, a 5.0 car upper (non GT40), and the BCB adapter to mate them.
This weekend I found this item, still hasn't sold. I've never seen anything like it. Does anyone know what it is, or how to get it?
http://forums.corral.net/forums/windsor ... ntake.htmlThis morning, my friend with the machine shop stopped by and I described the above adapter & discussed the possibility of making one. He can do it, but we had some initial concerns. If anyone can lend advice we'd appreciate it.
#1. Would it sell? I think so. You could bolt any 5.0 upper/lower to any 351W.
#2. Would it be acceptable to make it in 4 pieces? - 2 for the heads & front & rear piece. We thought it could be screwed together, or dove tailed. It just has to stay put till the intake is installed & RTV sets. I see the advantage of the 1 piece design, but he said it would make it many times more expensive.
#3. Would the dizzy clear the raised intake? I'm concerned with the bottom of the rotor housing hitting the top of the lower manifold.
#4. What is the thickness of the adapter? I don't have a 351W block around. But if it comes down to it, I'll get one.
#5. Is there a place to get the measurements of the head bolt/port pattern? He can do it, but it would be quicker if the info was available.
This place makes similar items, the website is down right now:
