460 engine swap
My brother has a newly rebuilt 460 engine, my 302 is done, but I dont know if the 460 will bolt to a C-3 trany "which I just had rebuilt". Can anyone help me with this?

Re: 460 engine swap
if this is going into a 66-77 you will need to find a bigblock c6. You also need to cut out the inner fenders. cut off the motor mount towers. possibly cut out the firewall to move the engine back. The 460 isnt small. a 351w is a tight fit in the eb let alone something that is inches wider, taller, longer, heavier. then you have to find a way to keep it cool. the EB radiator is really small. Trying to keep a bigblock cool with one would be hard to do. In the end it would be cheaper to rebuild the old 302.

The other thing you have to think about is the frame strength. EBs have good frames for their size, but you might need to beef the frame up so you don't twist it in two. Definitely get ahold of Don to check the ins and outs, and if you are in Colo. Springs, go by his yard and look at it, that beast is sitting in the garage down there.

Re: 460 engine swap
wish I had a SBF to trade you. I could use a 460 for my F250. then I wont have to yank the one out of my F100. I honestly wouldnt mind a Modified built up for my 69 Bronco to accommodate for the bigger axles and tires.
The benefit I see with the BBF is that it is a torque monster and if you have a lifted EB and want to develop some serious low end power a BBF has it. I would worry about the torsional stress it puts on the chassis as well, but need to box that frame in if your going to do something like this.
