Post Saginaw Power steering pump
I'm thinking of changing from the original power steering pump to the Saginaw pump.

I'm curious what FORD vehicles had these pumps...

I have a 351 W so I'll need brackets also...

Are you planning hydroboost any time in the future? If so there is a late 70's Lincoln that has a good one for our application.

I know you said FORD, but I pulled a pump off an Astro Van with remote Res for extra capacity. Didn't do anything but install it and it's been working good for a few years now, even with hydro-assist. Had the saginaw in there, so this is an exact replacement, just no res on the pump itself.

For a hydroboost install, you can ask for a dual return Saginaw-style for a 1975 Lincoln Continental (Advanced Auto Part # SP16002 46.99 plus 5.00 core; AutoZone Part # 6002, 56.99 plus 13.00 core)

Single return unit you can ask for a 1982 Econoline E100 with 302 (Advanced Auto Part # SP17075, 53.99 plus 15.00 core; AutoZone Part # 7075, 38.99 plus 7.00 core)

I have a good canned ham style core if anyone needs it. Would be happy to get it out of my garage.

Got a couple sitting in my garage too. All single returns.

Post Re: Saginaw Power steering pump
I just want to replace the stock power steering system with the "Canned Ham" pump. I know that the existing mounting and adjustment brackets that I currently have will not work, so I'm wondering what the best and cheapest way would be...

Also, do I need to change out the steering box?

I've got a core; not sure if makes a difference who made it when returning it to the parts store...

Shouldn't need to make any changes to the PS gear box with the Saginaw style pump. Maybe some fitting issues with hoses, but doubt it. I'm got a GM PS gear box in my truck and aside from needing a male fitting for the pump, I look to be good. Come to think of it, you'll probably need one of these as well.

Try Fastenal.
Part no. 425994 should do the trick. But confirm with the guy at the desk.

Don't forget the pump bracket. You are going to need the bracket that WH sells or have to make one on your own. If you want, I have the WH bracket and can take measurements on everything and get you the dimensions.

Zack, see I still haven't put that pump on you gave me. BTW, I haven't forgot about your bathroom, we have been tied up with an insurance adjuster trying to screw us and the insured. I will try to have your estimate together next week for you.
