Post Axle spacers
Working on installing a WH front brake kit. Rig is a 71 with a 44. Has the "early style" seals.

The instructions say:
The new spindles come with a seal pressed into
the back (for early style outer axles), if this is not what your old spindle looks like then remove this seal and use the
rubber V-type seal (for late style outer axles) that is also supplied. It should be just like the one on your existing outer
axles. We also supply a new nylon spacer (for late style outer axles only) which replaces the stock brass spacer located at
the base of the outer stub axles. Install this spacer with the beveled section against the base of the axle.

The passenger side had a brass spacer, the drivers side had none.
Should there be a brass spacer on both sides, only to be replaced by the nylon ones if it was the newer seal? Or should the brass spacer not be there?

If you are noticing no difference whatsoever between the outer axle shafts on both sides, besides the presence of the brass spacer, I would venture to say the correct answer would be brass spacers and early style seals for both sides. Did you look closely to ensure the brass spacer didn't come off with/inside the DS spindle?

I believe you are correct. upon closer inspection the old drivers side seal and outer slinger are worn and beat up where they would not be touching anything if there had been a spacer. I have not been able to locate a replacement brass one, and I may just cut the nylon one down so it can fit through the seal.

Is this a master rebuild kit for the front brakes or a disc brake upgrade kit?

Cool. Lemme know what you think of the kit once you've got it in. Think next time I do discs I just want to pick up a kit rather than piece together all the parts.
