Power steering pump and hydroboost
So, I picked up an Astro HB unit at the swap meet so instead of just replacing my bad master cylinder, I want to just go to the HB setup. I have the T-bird front discs with drum in the back (for now, have the Explorer disc stuff waiting to swap in).
I have the stock power steering pump and box. Thanks to Digger, I know all of the adapters I need to go to AN -6 fittings except for the Power Steering pump.
After reading a ton, it sounds like the stock power steering pump shouldn't be used for hydroboost and power steering. I haven't had any issues with the power steering outside of the box leaking and I just re-sealed it this past winter. I'm running 33x10.50 tires.
Do I need to bite the bullet and upgrade my pump? I have all of the Explorer serp stuff waiting to go on the 351w that's sitting on a stand (notice a theme?) and that includes the Explorer power steering pump. I don't think I can use this on my existing setup. I just don't want to spend extra dollars I don't need to right now.
Thanks for the advice. I've done a ton of searches and come up with great info but just need some thoughts on this last piece of the puzzle.

Re: Power steering pump and hydroboost
I can't say if the Explorer PS pump will work with HB. But here is some info for the -6an fitting to adapt to the Explorer pump, if that's the way you go. I found this info because it happens to be the same fitting that works in my Mustang HB inlet. http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showth ... p?t=258207Wild Horses: https://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/F ... wer_O-RingI found a similar fitting from Speedway on Ebay pretty cheap, just doesn't have the captured oring/washer like the WH version. I haven't fired it up yet, so I'm not sure if it seals. But finding a new oring/washer won't be hard to replace it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Steering ... 58c8abc3e8Hydratech also has it HBS9405: http://www.hydratechbraking.com/hose_fittings.html

Re: Power steering pump and hydroboost
I highly doubt the stock pump will keep up with hydroboost and steering. The explorer pump can keep up. I havent had any issues with mine. If you add a sag pump now you can get the bracket and pulley from WH and use it on the explorer setup later. It will fit a 351 with some spacers/shims. Eck has done that with his.

Re: Power steering pump and hydroboost
Don't waste your money on the Saginaw conversion parts. Try the explorer pump. Sometimes they work pretty good. If it doesn't, I can get you a pump that fits in the explorer bracket and will work well.

Re: Power steering pump and hydroboost
No. You have to use all explorer parts. Why do you want v belts? Explorer works on 302 or 351w.
