Sudden electrical wierdness
Suddenly my gas meter stopped working. My passenger tail light won’t turn off, my driver side brake light won’t work, unless I’ve turned my left turn signal on - that activates my drivers side brake light.
Any ideas?

Re: Sudden electrical wierdness
With any electrical weirdness, start making sure your grounds are good. I'd look at a wiring diagram and see what all those have in common as well. Might be the plug under the hood right in front of the driver came a bit loose?

Re: Sudden electrical wierdness
The wiring harness going back along the frame has a problem. If you have exhaust running along the drivers side it's somewhat common to melt those wires.

Re: Sudden electrical wierdness
I’ll add that since you just did a bunch of exhaust work you may have jarred the wires and made an almost problem a real problem. Look along the harness from the firewall back and see if the wrap (electrical tape likely) looks nicked or otherwise damaged and start there.

Here’s a video of the wiring along the frame. Not really sure what I’m looking for. Seems fine to me? https://youtu.be/3Xvg5lL3tgkAnd here are some pics.

Re: Sudden electrical wierdness
Good news. I cleaned the grounds at the brake lights and problem solved! But the fuel meter still nothing.

Re: Sudden electrical wierdness
And fuel gauges only work in 30% of Broncos so don’t beat yourself up too much if it doesn’t work!!

Ha well that’s good to know. Did replacing the sending unit solve it for you?
