I haven't messed with my 9" center section except for putting it in and taking it out. I want to install a Ruff Stuff pinion guard but not sure if I can just pull the bolts and put the guard on or will I need to set the gears back up after pulling the bolts and installing the guard.

One thing I don’t like about any of these is that it makes using the center of the axle as a place to jack the axle up a bit unstable

I think so, its the piece that bolts on. i know it fits the regular currie 9" as someone i know has one installed. To me its way too expensive - $240. The design seems like it would do a great job of protecting the the lip and bottom 3rd member better than anything else out there. Really its super simple and wouldn't be too bad to fabricate. I just decided to weld on some 1/4" plate to the bottom and back of the housing and used the Ruff Stuff Pinion guard.

Agreed - here are a couple of photos of what I did. I dont' have any of the bottom of the housing but its just 1/4" plate similar to the back bottom.

Getting prepped to install the ruffstuff pinion guard at some point in the next while and was wondering about the bolt length. I did not order the bolts with the guard (didn't even think about it at that time). Can anyone confirm or recommend the bolts needed? From this thread it looks like longer ones are needed. Would rather get some at ACE than order from RuffStuff.

I don't know the length offhand but you can get them at ACE no problem, thats what i did - assume 1/2" longer grade 8
