I have an idea for a kick-ass winter road trip
Here's what I'm thinking:
How about we all head out to beautiful Chaffee County in December, stay in these really cool cabins (
http://www.vistacourtcabins.com/) . In case you've never been, Chaffee County is about 2 hrs away, surrounded by some of the most spectacular peaks Colorado has to offer: the Collegiates. I used to work as a white water raft guide out there.
I propose a friendly eating competition for breakfast at my favorite Gunsmoke Cafe. The Mister Ed is a breakfast with hash browns, eggs, green chile, sausage, biscuits, topped with gravy. A big pile of awesomeness. And one of their HUGE cinnamon buns. It's truck-stop fare at its finest!
THEN, I propose we drive out to Princeton, soak in the hot springs and enjoy the visual grandeur among us. For dinner we'll head to Salida, and eat at the Boat House, a cool restaurant, perched right next to the Arkansas River. The town of Salida is full of character. Then back to BV for another night in the cabins.
And at some point, I am sure there are some light trails that could make for some fun winter-wheelin.
Who likes the sound of this? I just may do this with or without! ;)
I'm thinking Dec 18 weekend or sometime in January
