Post Got 'er home 70' ----no longer broncoless
Went and picked up the 70 today via a trailer. It was up in Wellington and had not been driven much over the last years and I wanted to make sure it was safe before going on a 50+ mile ride.

Unloaded, Taking up curb space

There are many things done to this truck that I like, Many that were not done as well as I would have liked. I'm going to go through it and write everything down, Make a list of must have and nice to have, then prioritize, Safety issues first of course.

Steering does not return to center very well. Probably get a drop bracket, it already has a drop pitman. ( 3 1/2 inch lift )
Doors will not close well at all, Partially because it was tipped on it's side one and partly because either the pillar was installed incorrectly or the body bushing have sagged or need adjusting, they are poly though..
The doors not closing is bugging me.

So far, I'm looking at the first steps
Drain fluids, replenish
Rejet the carb( Was an okie truck) running rich
Drop bracket
Better sealing dipstick,, burping oil from the top
Washers to try and adjust doors
Replace pass side rear brake cylinder, leaking
try to fix the doors
Install hood shocks,, I'm short . lol
Get front glass replaced
rear Springs replaced
Go through wiring, clean it up.
install fuel guages
Get aux tank replaced

Some more pics
Homemade bumpers,, ehhhh.. Not too impressed but functional
Image

Dented pass side. Just the rear quarter and front fender are damaged.

Mustang 5.0 Needs cleaning and organizing

So I have some work to do but want to get it drivable and safe and work on it while driving.

Looks great BNCO4....

Wish I had time this weekend to help you load it up here in the north area and meet you...not many people come up this way flipoff !

Great find and can't wait to see what you do with it!

Well done!

Thanks guys. Been tinkering on it, bought some more tools to stay exclusive to Auto work. Ratcheting box wrenches and another set of screwdrivers. Craftsman is now being sold at the ACE hardware about 1 mile from my house,, Bad news !!

Was just tinkering today, The 3 sp hurst shifter felt very loose.. Yikes,, It sure was , there was not a bolt in the entire system that was not less than finger tight!
Found out the PO replaced the T shift with a J shift. Lubed up the shift forks.
Pulled the fugly diamond plate cover off the hurst shifter, cleaned and painted it flat black
Cleaned the boots
Ground out around the shifter a bit more for rod clearance.
Tightend and installed missing bolts in the shifter area.
Hosed out the drivers floor.
Lubricated the sliders on the seats
Tighted all the bolts holding the steering box on.. All were loose.
Verified all driveshaft bolts are tight

Starting to look like a bronco under construction, Wrenches and rags on the floor as well as a can of WD40. lol

Going to rent a garage to clear out mine so I can get it in there and off the street to be able to start checking axle seals and whatnot. I have a leak on the pass side rear, might be wheel cylinder but I'm thinking axle seal. that's ok though, I want to replace them all, as well as wheel bearings when I get it into the garage.

Get that done, replace all fluids then I will start driving it around and addressing the creature comforts and the body damage.

Brett

Congrats! Looks like a great rig to start with!

Craftsman at Ace eh? Are the prices the same as at Sears?

Looks like a good start. There is always alot of work to do no matter how much you've done. I swear, the more stuff I cross off my list, the longer the list seems to get. Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

Craftsman tools at Ace.... One of my local Ace stores carries Craftsman now and clearanced all the old Ace brand tools. Got me a heck of a deal on a bunch of stuff. All of it was 50%-70% off! foshizzle
There is another Ace store in Aurora that still has Ace tools and they said they will carry both brands. Weird
