Your next purchase prediction?
I need to push away from Craigslist. Too much temptation. Been seeing lots of great looking 3/4 ton truck popping up lately, Power Strokes and Cummins alike. Which, of course, makes me look outside at the Tacoma with a condescending sneer. I should have known when I was in the market that I'd eventually want a diesel. So, that's got me contemplating a sale and buying a new (used) truck YET AGAIN. But, I'm gonna have to wait a little while longer. Still recovering with the wife from the great Bronco shell game of 2010.
So, my next purchase prediction is for a 3/4 ton crew cab diesel, very likely a Ford.
Anyone else have any spidey senses going off about a future acquisition?
I know Zilla has the feelers out for a Falcon.

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
I wasn't looking for a late 60's Lincoln until you sent me a CL ad. I totally understand the temptation to look around. The problem is when a good deal does pop up, then what do ya do. BTW - I really like your Tacoma.

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
No, usually they are just spur of the moment purchases. Well, actually looking for a commuter car for my wife.
I think you're smart to wait on the diesel. Later this summer when diesel gets 4.50+, people will be looking to dump their trucks.

My next will be a Subaru WRX. Wife wants something she can drive to school in the winter besides my 10 m.p.g. truck and I want something zippy. Seems like a pretty good compromise!

How about a Subaru Limited? Well, not so "zippy" but does get much better than 10mpg! LOL!

three things on the list. House of my own, SVT raptor, and maybe an EB project. In no special order but I do want the house first.

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
Raptors appeared in the Dream Car list multiple times. Sounds like I need to check these out at the Dealer. I did notice a 4-Door version for this year so its much more convenient. Anyone heard of a Veloso-Raptor?

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
Nothing so glamorous here, I need to look at work trucks.
I am thinking a full size work van with racks inside and out for glass, parts, tools and ladders for the shop and a 2wd 4cyl ranger for a runaround small projects - parts truck that I can let the boys use when they are working for me.
Personally: I dream of an EB project of my own, and a new DD pick up for me. Full size but no more 7.3l Desiels. Sold my excursion because fuel is just to damn expensive. Probably going to look at a Dodge - I really loved my 95 Ram 1500 ext. cab, short bed, had the 360 and got almost the same milage and the excursion. I put 260k miles on that truck, offroad it performed better than any fulsize I have ever owned, pulled what ever I needed to pull including my hunting partners F250 and trailer out of camp when the snow was to deep. Pulled him over 2 miles to where he could finally pull himself, ended up taking his trailer all the way home. (I miss that truck... a lot). If I run across a good deal on the right truck, the ranger I am currently cruising will be turned into that little runabout I was talking about.
Then in the end, I want a boat - 22-24 foot aluminum cabin cudy cruiser like the one my grandpa had when I was a kid. I want to fix it up with modern driveline and conviences but still with the classic lines and style. Lots of grand memories of that boat as a kid, and when mine were very young as well, spending the night on the lake ing for crappie....
But for now, the fleet is what it is.

They are sweet trucks and that Hennessey VelocoRaptor package is amazing. Great video J.D.

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
Ford is doing great things WITHOUT my tax dollars, so I have to give them props. The Raptor and the new Mustangs are just phenomenal. Now if only they would get off their dead asses and try to take some of the market share back from Jeep! In all honesty, if I HAD to buy a new short wheelbase SUV, I'd likely go with a Rubicon. They just seem like the most capable, from the assembly line, off road vehicle on the market today.

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
Zack, I'll second your wish that someone other than Jeep would make a capable off road vehicle. At 6'5" I don't really fit into the Jeeps and I'm not much of a fan of the modern Chryslers. Hopefully that will change as they refresh their lineup. A EB or TJ sized vehicle with a 4 cylinder turbodiesel would be awesome.

Re: Your next purchase prediction?
I had an LT in Alaska who showed up with a Ducati. Everyone told him to get a place with a garage, but he didn't listen. He hadn't even unpacked his apartment yet and his bike was stolen. Bike theft is HUGE in Alaska. Lots of gangs, specifically Samoan gangs.
