Custom Family Cage Progress
I thought I'd start a new thread considering the build-up has started. It follows the lines off the soft top almost to a T.......lots of headroom. He used a butt joint at the windshield to get it even closer to the dash. He also filled in most of the holes I drilled for the other cage with weld and was able to use the front footplate holes. I'll post progress pics as I get them....

That looks really good. I'll have to look them up when it comes time to have mine done. How do the welds look?

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
Great start! If I ever re-do my cage, it will have the main hoops like that. Another trick I saw that I like is cutting the dash a little shorter on either side so that you can run the tube even close to the dash.
Did you decide to mount anything to the cage?

I'll only be mounting the seat belts and fire extinguisher to the cage.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
I owe you a Beer for reminding me to mount my cage away from the wiper motor - saved me a ton of work and swearing! Looks great! BTW - you may wanna look at the color book at the Powder Coater - I wish I would have done a Grey and Black Hammered Finish instead of straight red on my springs. Roadrunner can even to a hammered finish with Red and Black

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
I'm definitely going to browse the color book. I thinking black right now as it would look good and is the cheapest. But some of the other hammered finishes look great to.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
Well, Eric picked up the Bronco this morning. He is driving down I25 as we speak. It was a pleasure working with him. I must admit that it sparked that Early Bronco itch again in me. When I can get at least two of my kids out of my house, I may have to revisit one again. Here are some pics of my old 72'. It ran a Nv4500/Atlas II Before I beat her to hell and back with the original paint on Sledgehammer at the Hammers: And one of the 76' uncut i used to own.
