Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
Got it home with no issues. Averaged 73mph all the way....84 miles. Cage is perfect.....I didn't hear one rattle. Going to try to get it to the sandblaster/powdercoater tomorrow.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
That really looks great.. I used Mile High Powdercoating to coat my cage ..black and my bumpers ( owned by an an old Lockkeed Engineer) He does really nice work. I really like the gussets and grab rails and how it fits with the Soft Top..... I had to construct mine to get it in the garage and really like how you fit the cage for max Head room....very nice...good lookin ride

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
Are you going to anchor the windshield to the cage?

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
I think you'll want to support the windshield. I primarily trailer my bronco places and never noticed how much the windshield moved when the top is off. Once I saw that it moved a LOT, I supported my windshield off the cage. I just went to one of the bolt holes along the top of the windshield.

Should have had him fill one of the legs with lead shot to compensate for your lean.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
For those of you looking to use Roadrunner for any powdercoating, I found the main brochure they use to choose colors.... http://www.cardinalpaint.com/a_img/PowderBrochure.pdfI chose the Black Hammered Semi Gloss and Raptorracer got the Silver Vein Semi Gloss.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
I think you and Raptor chose awesome colors. Thanks for loading the Cardinal Bronchure. That will make it easier to match my new tire carrier.

Really turned out nice - looks like all the time and frustration has paid off. Exxcited to see the finish up close.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
I'll be getting some padding for mine also. I was going to rattle can it but after buying all the paint and supplies, then prepping (acid wash etc), and doing 2 coats of the stuff....I couldn't pass up $200 for blasting and coating. I'm sure there is somewhere around you that can do it.

Re: Custom Family Cage Progress
This cage looks great! I live a mile from addicted off road and I really need a family cage in the 74 that will fit under my hard top and work with my future soft top. I really need to get over there and talk to them.
