anyone use these? whats the good and bads other than the backspacing issues? can you run these at low pressures? Im thinking about maybe getting some.

You looking at those ones with the 37" BFG Bajas on them? icon biggin

You can run them at lower pressures, as I have been told, so long as you have them set up as beadlocks (PVC inserts). Traditional, non-modified H1 wheels of the military sort are not beadlocks, they are run flats (with the aluminum inserts).

Additionally, they are 16.5" wheels which can be a PITA to find tires for. You've already hit the nail on the head with the backspacing issues.

If you are really interested in them, or a modified version of them, I'd check this guy out:

I'm actually considering stopping by their shop (Wichita, KS) next month when I am on my way to/from Kansas City and picking up a set of wheels and two sets of tires for the Super Duty.

Had a guy I worked with who "got a really good deal" on the TSL Super Swampers when we phased those out in Iraq. Probably good for him that he saved so much money considering he is unemployed now.

Can you tell it has been a few since I changed a tire out seeing as I referenced the aluminum inserts?

I've always loved the utilitarian look of the H1 wheels. Just wish the backspacing was sufficient for them to be used without modification.

I wouldn't want to use the run flat part. At lower pressure I bet it's not to good to pin rocks in between the tire on that insert. Yup I was looking at those. They don't seem to look to bad to recenter them. There are a few after market places that have weld in inserts pre made ready weld in.
So if that insert isn't in the beadlock it won't work or only holds one side?

They sure look cool!!!

The blue plastic looking piece on that website is what actually provides the beadlock piece for those wheels. It essentially goes inside the tire and pinches the bead to the wheel, from the inside. Without that insert those wheels are a simple two piece design with an O-ring that allows you to change a tire minus the tire machine.

My cousin has a set he's wanting to get rid of. They are un-modified and don't have the inserts. He has plans to recenter them for his rig, but has decided to go another way. Let me know if you're interested and I'll put you in contact with him.
