What is with people....
I get this on a regular basis, I don't know about the rest of you guys, but it happens to me on an almost weekly basis..... Sitting at the light, window rolled down, some dude in a bone stock D90 pulls up next to me and starts talking crap about how great the D90 is and how superior it is to my EB. Last week it was a guy in a lifted Heep at the gas station, he was driving a mall crawler... perfect paint, huge bumpers with stingers, winch (with the original rubber band still on the roll), about 8 KC lights all over the damn place, suspension lift, body lift (with hockey pucks mind you-don't do this), 35" Thornturds, armor everywhere. He looks my EB up and down, and said something to the effect of "it's too bad that POS has rust, it could really get chicks". I ignore the chump and continue pumping gas and he keeps flappin' his gums. Finally I asked him if he ever wheels it, and he says "no way dude, I have over 50k in this thing" to which I replied something like, yeah, me neither, I just like to look cool. What is with these twits anyway?

Re: What is with people....
I have 75 miles on my Bronco and have not had a negative reaction yet, but I am sure they are coming. I know that the Rover guys love their Trucks, but the only time I see a Range Rover off road is on their TV Commercials.
I have had a couple thumbs-up, few waves, wave from Jeep, girl at fuel pump said how much she loves old Broncos, and a guy at stop light asked me what my truck was (no emblems) - told him a Ford Bronco and he says "I need to get one of those things".

Re: What is with people....
We have had nothing by positive comments on our Bronco as well. We have been offered far more than we have in it from a guy at the gas pump. Had clerks at the gas station tell us about theirs, had people stop and ask us about it, had many and even once the comment of "That is one cool Jeep - you can tell you actually use it, not just for pretty" TO which I simply smiled, replied with "thanks, that is what we bought it for, fun to drive and fun to wheel - but it is not a jeep". The best was a neighbor lady who ran up to me the other night when I got home and asked me to rev it up - it was 1030pm and she was pissed at a guy across the street who had told her young son to quit playing basketball in her driveway at 9:00 because it was to loud and he was tired. I did not accommodate her request. Entourage, you may think that yours is going to be a boulevard cruiser but I suspect that very soon you will be joining us on a trail ride. You will start out with taking it easy, just cruising and looking at the scenery, but soon enough you will start to get it muddy, then it will have its first scratch from low hanging tree branches, then a ding or two, and before you know it - lockers installed, crawling over cars at vendor events and Booger will be putting U-Tube productions together about the legend of Entourage.

Gary, I'm willing to bet at least one of those jackasses you ran in to had a certain unique sticker on the windshield probably accompanied by out of state tags.

Re: What is with people....
I get asked about my Scout all the time. I just shake my head.
I saw a bumper sticker (on a Scout) that said "For God's Sake Don't Call It A Jeep"
I want a bumper sticker "For God's Sake Don't Call It A Scout"

Re: What is with people....
LOL. Different strokes for different folks. He was measuring up the only way he knew how, and obviously had fallen monstrously short. Not to mention wasted $50k! Feel sorry for him. I wonder how it feels to put $50k in a rig to know you couldn't sell it tomorrow for $20k. Better yet, invite him to go on the "easy" trails with us next month!
Never had anyone try to bash my bronco and I venture to guess mine is among the worst looking. But I have had people call mine a "Jeep" more than I can count. I am polite most of the time in my correcting them, but I also don't mind if someone calls it a scout.

Re: What is with people....
Have no clue what a D90 is, typical pavement pounders in heeps think they are cooler. I had many arguments with them in Steamboat as they all think they need the biggest tire possible on their heep to go wheeling with minimal suspension travel. I did several lifts on some new models and 2 of them were perfect with 33's instead of 35's And those were the ones that actually used their JEEP's The rest were just pavement pounders and have no clue about cars/trucks functions. I have grown accustomed to that and pretty much ignore them. When they ask me im honest and they dont like my opinions. I think this commercial is perfect for your feelings about the topic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niP0_56Hyns

Re: What is with people....
D90 = Land Rover Defender 90. Pretty comparable to a bronco in many regards, but hand built and much more expensive: never wheeled with one.

Some Heep can talk bad about my Bronco at the gas station and then he can mess with the crow bar in my back seat.

Re: What is with people....
I really don't get the amount of ego some people get about their trucks. It's part of what I really like about the EB community-pretty much everyone is content to let folks build however they want to. So far, no problems in person about my rig. One offer to sell it, at least one person asking to take pictures of it, and lots of compliments. So far, no one has called it a jeep, but thats only a matter of time....

Re: What is with people....
some people call them jeeps as they simply don't know any better and are referring to a certain class or style of vehicle
kinda like how everyone calls tissues by the most well known brand name..................KLEENEX

My bronco has been called a nice jeep by my brother in law, I know he didn't know any better. No one has given me beef otherwise.

I got nuttin against any other brands
I just chuckle when I see them all loaded up with aftermarket off-road goodies (especially air intake snorkels) but you can tell the thing has never been off pavement, let alone off-road

Re: What is with people....
Surprisingly my in-laws are the only people that have called/do call my bronco a jeep. And the only reason they do that is because they know it eats at me! They very well know it is a bronco! I had a huge sticker on my windshield of my last bronco. It said: Jeep...its what's for dinner. I had many jeep owners pissed at me for that one! One guy on a trail said 'Nice sticker, too bad its all wrong'. I replied 'Yeah? Where's your jeep?'. To that he put his head down and said 'Broken down at the trailhead'.

If I was going to build a 50k commuter car it would be small, low and fast. I've never understood building a badass jeep to only ever drive to work.

anyone who has to get a massive bran new truck and make it look like that dodge from that movie walking tall is obviously compensating for something lol.
i get at least one complement on my bronco every time i drive it, there have been days where people have offered to buy it and i have got 3-4 complements, which i cant rly figure out cus its no tin super good shape but eh whatever anyone who talks trash on your bronco is just jealous. ^^

Re: What is with people....
I learned to drive in a 67 Scout...my dad built the 67 from a 66 and 67 he had. So...I really like Scouts too. In fact...I was looking for a Scout when I found my first EB and bought it. Of course...now I do like EB's better than Scouts but also like Jeeps (owned a 61 CJ-5) which are fun. In fact...when it comes to 1972 and before, I pretty much like all makes. There are a few models I never cared for...Edsels are ugly...some Studebaker cars too. I've owned several different makes and have had fun with all of them. When it comes to classic vehicles...Im easy to please. My side job fits perfectly with this. Check out http://www.pikespeakmotors.com if you like all sorts of classic vehicles. We have about 200 parts cars...100 whole project cars...and about 25 drivers of different quality levels. Also where I bought my 2nd EB...we dont get them often but I'll post if we do. I'll attach a few pics of my past classic vehicles to show you what I mean. And by the way...of all the classic vehicles I've owned, my wife only ever complained about me selling my first EB :) I agree...no need for haters...ego maniacs...etc

Re: What is with people....
This kills me when guys get on the proverbial " High Horse" about the awsomeness of there jeep, land rover, etc. I bought my first Bronco from a friends family over 20 years ago and my friend now drives a land rover. He loves to tell me how wonderful it is. He told me one time that the land rover was far superior off road than the Bronco is. I suggested that we take them out wheeling together so I could bask in the greatness. Three years later and all be damned if aint busy every time I go wheeling and invite him along.
For the most part I get positive reactions in the Bronco. I have been driving the "New" 68 to work and its rusted and banged up. I came out to my car after work today and found a guy checking it out. He was falling all over himself to tell me how cool it is.
