Jenny Creek 7/2/11
My brother and I decited to try Jenny Creek this last weekend. Rumors were that there was too much snow and the trail was closed. We didn't find much snow on the trail. We did find the water was MUCH deeper than normal. We love water crossings, so this was awesome!
We started in the lower entrance (take a right at the first Y about 30' in the trail). This brought us down to the mud ledges. They were slightly more rutted out than normal, and the holes were really full of water! Down the trail you come to a water crossing. Its normaly about 8"-12" deep. Due to all the run off it was about a full 24" deep. When we crossed and the wattwe was hitting a wheel, there was enough force to splash and flow over a 33" tire. It was flowing fast enough to make you think twice about it washing your rig down river. The trail was to be expected until we reached the other sections where the trail goes up the creek. Any water was about 20 -50% deeper than normal. We didnt it any snow other than some small drifts on the side of the trail. Right before the trail heads up the creek for the last time (there is a trail bypass for this last section of up-creek travel) we ran into 9 land rovers. We wanted to follow them up to the end of the trail, and winch over the glacier. Our goal was to make it thru to the end, but there would have been a 2-3 hour wait to get the 9 rovers and 2 jeeps up the glacier. So we headed back. We went out the typical way in and not thru the mud holes... they would be really hard to climb and really messy.
I will get more pics posted over the next couple days.

rtreads I like the pics. The water run looks like fun. That's a lot of water moving down so late in the runoff. Zoso want us to run this later this summer.

Re: Jenny Creek 7/2/11
No pics of the last hill or Rollins pass. We didn't follow that pack of rovers very far. I did ask a guy on an ATV about the snow on the road and he said that no one has busted thru yet, but he thought a couple people with big rigs could do it.
If anyone runs this one later this summer, please post it up. I will go again!

Re: Jenny Creek 7/2/11
This sounds like a great trail! I'd be up for doing it in a few weeks as well. I'll be camping with the in-laws starting August 5th in Golden Gate State Park and am looking to do some wheeling in the area. This sounds perfect.

Re: Jenny Creek 7/2/11
Easiest way to upload them to a site like photobucket and then link to them. Also helps keep the site's bandwith use down. For the 5th, I'm trying to decide between Kingston Peak and Jenny Creek. Have you done Kingston?

Re: Jenny Creek 7/2/11
I have not done Kingston... but would be up for trying it! Ya, both trails in a day might be possible? Jenny Creek isn't really long. I think even if you are slow, you can do it in 3 hours. But that kind of depends on the glacier at the end and how big it is, and how many rigs you need to winch up.

Re: Jenny Creek 7/2/11
jenny creek isnt long at all. Its the slow very bumpy drive down rollins pass that takes up all your time.
If you got an early start both are doable in a day. Kingston is nice. Not very hard (been a couple years since ive been up it).
