That's cool, I only get the neighbor's cat in my yard, until I chase it off that is.

Not only roped him but rode him too.Told my daughter I'd give her a $100 to ride him,by the time the neighbors left the kitty was up to $230.That's just good parenting.

Re: What's in your backyard?
I pulled out into the alley last night & there was a big 5x mule deer still in velvet. I think its probably the same one that I found lounging under my crabapple tree last fall. big boy.JPG
The dogs didn't know what to do. face off.JPG
I tried to ride it, but they are quick..............and bite hard.

Re: What's in your backyard?
I would have a hard time not tryin to get it to "commit suicide" and make it's way into my freezer. The most i've had in my yard is a prairie dog. my lab just about gave it a heart attack. Doubt it will be back. Oh and the neighbor has about 30 homing pigeons. A few of them have been a nice meal for my roommates pointer.

Re: What's in your backyard?
Okay, I had this conversation a few days ago with a buddy of mine and now I'm curious. What's the Colorado standard for counting points? Back in Missouri an 8 point buck was a deer with a total of 8 points. My buddy was telling me in California they would consider that a 4 pointer, as it would be assumed there were 4 points on each side, totally 8.
Just so you know I'm not completely hijacking, the other day there was a very nice 8 pointer, still in velvet, hanging out in the parking lot of the townhomes down the street. Now I need to put a salt lick in the lot next door.

Re: What's in your backyard?
At what elevation do the deer turn into elk?
or
Where do they store the moguls in the summer?
Two of my favorite lowlander questions.

Once they get to the really high elevations the elk turn into marmots.

I see them on the side of I-25 between Tejon and Cimarron all the time.

In the long run you might be better off with the elk.

Re: What's in your backyard?
Why do I feel like this went from a Bronco club to a windowless van club?
