Weld spatter, why?

 Weld spatter, why?I am running a Lincold weldpac 185 and standard CO2 Argon mix in the bottle but after this last bottle change it seems I have been getting tons of splatter and BB's all over the place. The welds are fine, penetration is good but why the splatter?
any ideas, I think my pressure is set at 15-20 psi? cant remember but I havent changed that, unless maybe a kid was messin with it??? |

Re: Weld spatter, why? I think the Lincoln owners manual states 35-40 lbs of pressure. However, I ran mine at the same pressures you are after talking to a professional welder family friend in Utah. He stated that any more pressure just isn't necessary. That is just one opinion. I seemed to get more splatter with higher temps.

Re: Weld spatter, why? Make sure your metal is prepped well too. My hobart throws some spatter on the higher settings.

Re: Weld spatter, why? Maybe the CO2 / Argon mix is reversed. I always use CO2 straight. Have for over 30 yrs and I think one diff is Argon / CO2 mix generates less splatter.
