Re: Ignition module
The Ford system, when the harness is matched to the module, is a lot more reliable than the aftermarket conversions. My original '74 module made it 22 years and almost 200K miles.

Re: Ignition module
I carried a spare in all of my 70s Ford vehicles electronic ignition systems because failure was VERY common with them You never knew when it would just up and quit. Never known of a Mallory to leave ya stranded. But I guess it is possible.
I sure hope my MSD never does. But I can always get one faster than a Factory distrubutor if it did.

Re: Ignition module
I've had pretty good luck with my MSD stuff (knock on wood), the magnetic pick up in the dizzy started failing when hot after like 12 years. Lets just say, it happened at a bad time & place. I had just done cap & rotor change, the only thing old in the dizzy was the pick up. Its $35.00 well spent the next time you dive into the dizzy. Its very easy to change, but because its hidden, I never thought about it till it was too late.
