I have the 3G alternator from my v belt set up sitting here in the garage. My question is, what value does it have? I need to find a high output alternator to convert to a welder. I would like to use an externally regulated unit, as they are easier to convert into a welder. But do I sell this one, and then try to find one from napa or something? Or do I just use the 3G that I already have? Is it valuable?

i would keep it in your parts pile incase of brakedown and you need 2nd one, i have seen people get bout 80 dollars on craiglist and bout 100 or so on ebay for used 3g alt. but if you feel you made mistake later on and what not i got mine at the PICK N PULL down in springs from a ford taurus and you can get them for about 15 dollars

I would like it to be a hard mounted unit. Nothing additional to bring but cables... until I build some storage. Then they will be in there at all times. You never know when you will need to fix something.
