Denver's Best Sushi
Not sure how many guys are into Sushi, but I am almost as crazy about Sushi as I am Broncos.
The 5280 Magazine (my Bible) has rated Sushi Den and Izakaya Den the Readers Choice and Critics Choice for many years. Sushi Den (Denver Pearl Street) is actually rated one of the best restaurants in the state in any category at #6. Sushi Den and Izakaya Den are actually sister restaurants across the street from eachother.
While being here in Denver, I have tried Itzachia Den, Sushi Taro (120th) many times, Sushi Tora (Boulder), Happa Sushi (Cherry Creek), Sushi Han (Larimer Sq.), Yum Sushi (120th & Tower), Sushi Sasa (15th & Platte), and Taigun (Flat Irons).
The 5280 Magazine 2010 Best Of rated Sushi Sasa as Critics choioce. Went there last night. It was good, but would be lower in the list and likely not in the top 5.
Anyone have a favorite Sushi Place I am missing from my quest to find the best Sushi in Colorado?

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
I like all of the above mentioned spots...although I think Sushi Den is a little trendy and over priced being only 2 blocks from my house I still dont go there very often. If you want to try a great spot on the edge of downtown Denver try
Awesome spot, great sushi!

The Diablo and BLT Rolls at Sushi Sasa were amazing! I also got a reservation on Open Table and bypassed the wait at the door.

Went to BlueFin in Stapleton over the weekend - it was great! The 29th, Dragon, and Spider rolls were great.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
IMHO Sushi Den is severely overpriced and overrated. I used to live 2 blocks from there and would drive other places. Sushi Sasa is pretty amazing. Sushi Hai over in the Highlands has pretty good sushi and it's also a really cool restaraunt with several levels and a couple different bars. I've tried a lot of sushi all over and my favorite is still John Holly's off of Downing and Harvard in the DU/Harvard Gulch area. If you're into rolls check out the Mango Roll, Kimberly Roll, Grand Canyon roll and the #9 roll. All of their specialty rolls are awesome but those are my favorites. It's reasonably priced and there's never a wait. Also if you're in the mood for something else check out the John Holly's Filet. It's MF'n amazing.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
Huh, I love sushi. Maybe we need to do a CCB sushi run. Have you guys gone to Domo? They do sushi, but their main thing is really stellar rural Japanese food. Probably my favorite restaurant in Denver and it isn't crazy expensive if you go for lunch.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
The only place I've ever been for sushi is Happy Sumo in the Orchard at 144th and Huron. If you go to their website, you can join the VIP club for free. Every month they send you a voucher that can get you all kinds of half-off and happy hour specials. Not sure how this place stacks up to the others, but it's really good.
We need to convert Dan. Happy Sumo is probably less than 5 minutes from his place.
They also have a fully cooked chicken roll for the sushi...chickens.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
Love sushi but can't add any places to the ones you listed. There are a few little joints around southwest plaza, one new one at Ken Caryl and c470, nothing special but convenient. One of my wife's and I favorite things to do is go to the Fresh Fish Company, sit up at the bar and order off the app menu. The regular grilled is great, but some sashimi, oysters on the half shell, chowder, and sour dough bread with a couple Anchor Steams is awfully good!

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
Been to quite a few you guys have mentioned, there is one on S. Gaylord street just east of wash park thats quite good called Japon. We actually prefer it over Sushi Den and its a bit cheaper. We used to live a few blocks from there but have moved a few miles north of wash park and now go to a place called Taki Sushi near Bayuad and Logan which is very small but pretty damn good as well.. just thought I would throw those out there ;)

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
Went to Sonoda 2 weeks ago and had a great time.
Went to John Holly's last night and Loved it. I ordered all of the rolls recommended above and hit a home run on all of them. The icing on the cake was draft Soporo and Kirin. Really good place and appreciate the recommendations.
Next up is the place Airbur recommended in Littleton.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
We ususally stick close to home here in Littleton when we go out for sushi; our favorite is Sushi Basho on Santa Fe and Littleton Blvd. I'm glad to see some more suggestions for the wife and I to try when we venture away from the house.

Just an FYI, Groupon has a $7 for $15 deal at Land of Sushi in Centennial. No idea if they're any good, but thought it might come in handy for someone.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
I've not been there myself but my girlfriend, who is also big into sushi, raves about Sushi Mara up in Lafayette. It's at least worth a shot and probably closer for you northern guys than some of the places down here.

Re: Denver's Best Sushi
Went to Sushi Den over the weekend and I have to say, this place is very deserving of the hype and #1 status. I was skeptical but the Lobster Crab Won-Ton App, draft Japanese beer (forgot name - not Kirin or Sapporo), and each roll was amazing. Ordered the Big O, Rainbow, Dragon, Volcano, and New Style. I got there at 5 PM so no wait, valet parking, great table, amazing sushi, favorite Japanese beer, and the perfect way to spend my anniversary.
