Post Cost to rebuild EFI motor & re-wire
Most of you know it's likely my wife and I will be headed to Germany next summer. Since I can't take my bronco with me, I was thinking of what things I could have done since it'll be down so long.

Two major things I'd like to have done.
#1 Rebuild 351 EFI motor (simple refresh for reliability as it has enough power for what I need)
#2 Re-wire the whole rig. Headlight to taillight.

Anyone have a rough cost on what each of these items might cost to have done. And how long it may take to complete them.

Thanks!

J.D.

Not sure about the EFI, wiring should run you about $650 plus 15ish hours at whatever the shop rate is.

Ok, next question is there anyone in the club that would be interested in doing this for me? I'd rather pad a fellow bronco brothers wallet than a shop if I can. We're probably looking 3-4yrs out from here for completion. I'd want the re-build to happen just prior to our return from Germany, but be complete.

If not, are there shops you'd recommend to perform these items correctly?

cost vary is the motor in good shape if so you'll only need the upper so high end 300. 23 gallon tank with wiring 400. front explorer serp. 400. rjm harness 550. distributor for efi 100. new fuel line and fittings 100. labor phil and i have been talking about this and figured 7 days at 50. an hour . if you need a new or rebuilt motor skies the limit 1800. to 6k . hope this helps

The motor is smoking a bit at startup, but I believe it to be in decent condition. It leaks from what I think is the rear main. Was pulled from a '94 F-250 and dropped in. Everything is in tact and it's running. It may only need an upper end, but I would want someone way more qualified than I to determine that. I would want a new harness to clean up the engine bay, but basically one that simply replaced what I have with new and maybe a few circuits for accessories. Then literally, everything else needs re-wired. If under budget, I may spring for LED tail lights, but again, it's a trail rig.

I am sure $6k is out of my price range, but hopefully I could get around half that...

Thanks for the help 777 - that's good info!

I might be interested in doing the re-wire for you. I did mine without much in the way of problems.

I can do it and have time JD. Although I would totally avoid the RJM harness, there's just no reason to when the FRPP A50 harness actually comes with tech support and is less $$.
