You mean like completely take the inner fender out or just trim the hell out of them? You still need some structural support for the outer fender and the wheel well, but I have seen where guys have louvered the wheel well for heat dissipation and trim the inner fender skirt to match the outline of the wheel well, but I haven't seen anyone completely remove them unless they have something else built into it to attach exterior panels to. There was a guy here in the Springs 8-10 years ago that I knew, Dave I think was his name, he had the front end tubed and was able to hang panels on the tubing and didn't have the inner panels.

I really wanted to take mine out so you could see the shocks, headers, engine, etc. but ultimately decided they were there for structural reasons and left them in. There are a couple articles on cb.com where they have tubed the front. We are lucky in the club to have at least one guy who has done it (dnewman) and he also has the killa West Coast Broncos Prerunner front fenders.

Another option is to so something like the Broncool inner fender replacement panels. I've been thinking about cutting out the lower vertical part of the fender panel and riveting in steel mesh in it's place. It'd run mostly as cool and keep large debris out of the engine bay.

I don't plan to take mine out completely just plan to make them bigger. Have a little larger opening.

I cut the inner verticle portion up to the bend in the metal. This keeps some strength while letting more heat out and giving access to work on it.
